Read what an invoice’s QR code says

Every simplified tax invoice in the Kingdom carries a QR code with the seller, their VAT number, the time and the amounts. Paste its text or pick a photo of it, and see them laid out.

Nothing is uploaded: the code is read on your device.

What is inside the code

The QR is a short list of fields, each with a number. The first five have been on every simplified invoice since Phase 1; Phase 2 adds the stamp that ties the code to the signed invoice.

Phase 1

  1. Seller’s name

    As registered for VAT.

  2. Seller’s VAT number

Fifteen digits, starting and ending with 3.

  3. Time of issue

Date and time the invoice was issued.

  4. Invoice total

    Including VAT.

  5. VAT total

    The VAT on the invoice.

Phase 2

  1. Invoice hash

A fingerprint of the signed XML invoice.

  2. Digital signature

The invoicing unit’s signature over that hash.

  3. Public key

The key that checks the signature.

  4. ZATCA’s signature

ZATCA’s signature over the unit’s key, on simplified invoices.

Issue codes like these from your own system

We set up ERPNext to produce Phase 2 invoices — XML, stamp and QR — and onboard each of your invoicing units with ZATCA.

Point your phone’s camera or any scanner app at the code; it shows the text, which you can copy and paste here. On some browsers you can also pick a photo of the code directly.
